Draw line from point with distance
-
I'm wondering if there is a plugin that allows you to begin a line from a point that is offset "x" distance from where you click. I'm thinking of an autocad command that allows you to do this but can't remember what it is called. Essentially you click the command, pick a point, enter a distance, and your line starts at that distance away from that point. It would be handy to have all that in one command and a few clicks instead of having to use the tape measure or create an unnecessary line every time you want to snap to a specific dimension to begin a line. Which is something I find myself doing pretty often.

Maybe TIGs PointOff can help you here?

Thank you! I tried it out and it performs the same function, but not exactly as efficient as I was hoping for. I guess I'm thinking of something you can just right click inside a line command and have an option that says "from point." Then enter a distance from there.
However, I'm wondering in what ways would TIG's tool be used where it is a better option than using the tape measure tool to create a guide? Seems like it's faster to create a guide and you're able to do it in less clicks. Unless of course there's some applications for it I'm not thinking of. I'm not super experienced yet though
Any idea on what its purpose is? -
Hi Ryan, hi folks.
Maybe the Offset Tool can do that.
Can you post an example of what you want to do.
Best regards.
