      Saw this table on the 1stdibs.com web site the other day and couldn't resist modeling it. The top was easy, since I could trace one of the images on 1stdibs. Had to make my best guess when it came to the legs and turned center post. I added a latch for the top, based on one sold by Whitechapel, Ltd. The original is made of cherry and dates to about 1810.

        Very good. Those legs look very light. I bet the pieces of wood had to be chose very carefully.

          Thanks, Dave. Yeah, the legs would be a challenge in the shop. But I'll guess that straight-grained cherry was easier to find in 1810 than it is now. Cheaper, too.

            Plus, if you look at the number of old tables with feet broken off, mechanical strength may have taken second place to appearance.
