[REQ] Author Bar
-
So I'm tired of digging... For plugins. I can't count the number of times I know who wrote a plugin, but not the name of the plugin. Whatsmore, there are a few Plugin Authors that I rely on more than others. I go to their plugin "directories" for lack of a better word, listed in the various drop downs up top. Which are scattered among which I'm not ever really sure of... Some I hit more often are ThomThom and Tig... I have many of their plugins installed and use them on a daily basis. Thankfully some have buttons and icons, but others can't really replace the list style of the drop down.
My request is for a bar in which I could choose authors and set them to the bar and have all of said author's plugins, that I have installed, at my finger tips at all times. I want to use ThomThom and Tig without having to work so very hard as to use an extra moment scrolling for their rather inconvenient location in the alphabet. It seems a few of my favorites fall in the end of this order... I can't tell you how pleased I was when I saw Aerilius... Of course he hasn't directified himself as of yet...
So... Possible? Probable? Useful?
See this incredible body of work? I need to have it without having to scroll for 3 years... If it were closer at my hand, I would know it better and it would be of more use to me.
It's far too many for a toolbar full of icons and what a chore making icons for them would be. And then all the other multi plugin authors. I'd like to be able to choose a few to put in the bar at least... Perhaps as many as I like? Maybe I'm living on dream time.
Here's a mockup of what I was dreaming about.

seems to me the nearest option is what is provided by the store and its SCFtools. don't think you can get that kind of sorting unless ALL the authors had a standard template to take care of this.
it may be possible to have a single page with lists and links to one's plugins (for docs etc). a sort of scf author's page. in terms of su use i tend to sort my plugins by what they do. it's a plugin jungle really.

I was wondering if Context Menu would be easier?

..they're pretty much the same (de-populated mine). menus in most scripts are not difficult to edit, and if you look at the toolbar name, and change it so that two (or more) scripts have the same name, the icons will merge in one toolbar. so you could have say Tig's or TT tools etc. Fredo actually provides this in his plugins prefs, so you can change the name without editing the script.

I was hoping so... Thom pools his in a nice directory as well, it might incline others to do the same.

I wonder if SketchUcation's plugin installer system could be used. it allows filtering a database of plugs by name, date tag... I suppose that would be dynamic and not static like what I'm asking for.

yes, that's what i meant with scftools, i knew TIG has implemented a managing feature (though i haven't used it)
