Maybe Im just missing it. Is there a freehand selection plugin tool for SU ?. One of my favorite thomthom's vertex tool is this freehand selection , but works only on vertices--not able to select groups or components..I am modeling lots and lots of tiny objects in my scene and i thought this kind of tool will save me a lot of time.. 😐

go to http://www.sdmitch.blogspot.com (a VERY frequent contributor here) and look for Select by Polygon near the botton of the page, it works very well, and there's even a video Sam made to explain it.

As soon as I read your thread title I thought of sdmitch's excellent Select by Polygon and would recommend it and many of his other plugins.

You may also want to look at Renderiza's iSelect

          and
          S4U's Select tool
          http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=s4u_selectool_v1.1.1

They both have their uses and may help with your many objects.
