@highlander, @juju: I think the "Remember me" problem is fixed. At least I can not reproduce it again. If it occurs again, please let me know.

yep, well it happened again this morning, had to login manually, didn't use the machine over the weekend...

I'm trying to find out the cause but I have to admit that I'm not sure about the cause. Now I re-ordered the "remember me" module in Joomla to be the first to load. Please erase all your browser cookies, re log in with the remember me feature set and share with me if it helped or not.
