Aerial photography as texture

I´ve created a 3d surface model with the sandbox tool out of contours. The outline dim. is 1.464m x 1.327m. As texture for the landscape i would like to use the approriate aerial photo(11.714 x 10.618 pixel) from gis software. What raster format do you recomend for use in SU2014 (jpg, png, etc.)? What settings are necessary in SU and LO to obtain a max. print quality in format a3?
