I am a humble shopkeeper who has started modelling custom PC ideas and his semi renovated house with sketchup make 2013 and Indigo renderer. I am adept with the move and scale tools for building scenes for render using other peoples models 😄 I am capable of modelling the house with skirting, architrave, cornice/coving work, kitchen cupboards etc myself. All the custom stuff I want to model like built in shelving units, wardrobes etc is within my capabilities. Its all the other furniture and decoration and application of textures there-on that are beyond my capabilities.

ie.Luckily I am actually capable of building the custom stuff myself which I couldn't find in the Warehouse or elsewhere anyway. All the other bits and pieces that finish off the model that I am not capable of is actually all the stuff I can source elsewhere anyway. Sash Windows, PLantation Shutters, curtains, ornaments, table lamps, sofa's, beds with bedding, appliances, sanitary ware etc etc.

My problem is that the 3Ds models I am importing from the likes of archive3D.net don't import with the textures in place. I download the zip file, extract the zip, it contains the 3Ds file and the textures, the files are named with less than 8 characters. I've searched the forums on this issue and those were all the things to check. The last is importing with the same units. How does one know what units the original model used. I tried setting the units in preferences and re-importing but still no go. All the previous threads on this were from a few years ago so I wondered is there any new plugin or methodology for SU2013 for importing the 3Ds files with textures intact.

Remember I am a shopkeeper trying his hand at Sketchup and Indigo for home improvement planning/visualising. As such, Can someone lead this dumbo by the hand through the process from downloading the file from archive3D.net to getting it to appear in SU2013 with the textures intact. I don't know what I am doing wrong.
