Tool Button Size in SU 2014
-
I recently upgraded to 2014 and i first thought i had enabled "use large tool buttons", but no! this IS the small tool button setting!
Is there any way to decrease the size manually?!? Ini file, etc.?
This wastes so much space compared to v8 (~+25%?) and for me it looks really poor compared to the old layout - the relation between icon and spacing...I mean... yes, screen resolution is increasing and i'm already on 2560x1440, planning to get a 4k display in the near future - but if this is the reason the icon size should have been increased and not the grey area of the toolbar!!!
I can't imagine how this works on FullHD or smaller...I really would like to hear some explanation why this has been changed - for me this is clearly an improvement for the worse...
Maybe a more flexible way would be better and not only a large/small switch!

Have you by any chance altered the default icon size in your windows settings.

In many cases, SketchUp's large icons are far too tiny (24px), at least for touch screens (and they even don't dpi-scale properly). I had never imagined that 16px could be not small enough for some users. Anyways, some modernization and flexibility there is needed, especially in terms of the Ruby API so that developers are allowed to provided more crisp graphics.I believe the incentive for the 4px margin introduced in 2013 was to have a cleaner workspace and better distinguishable buttons. I believe it was referred to scientific studies.

V2014
And btw. WHY does the Photomatch window has to be wider now than before and than the other windows?!? I really doesn't make any sense to me... no new info or buttons - just more space on the left side. If you dock it the other windows will also get wider...

For me it is the opposite...
Less icons possible and even more space needed.
