[REQ] Strips and branches tools
-
3ds Max has these great tools for drawing 2d strips and 3d branches.
Would it be possible to have something similar in SketchUp?
(Preferable that works on a surface.)
-
How does the tool work?
-
The strip tool works like the freehand tool but instead of a line it creates a series of connected quads. Would be great if you could draw on a surface as well.
The Branches works like the freehand tool but does a tapered extrude of a face drawn on the plane of the current view.A quick search on YouTube got this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage%26amp;v=6nDAWf01i6c
5minutes in it shows the stripes tool and 8 minutes in it shows the branchtool. -
That Topology function showcased in the beginning of the video - I have written such a tool already. Never implemented it in any tool yet. Been meaning to though.
-
That Strips feature looks like a nice addition to QuadFace Tools.
-
The branches tool is a bit like pushpull in that you point a face and then extrude it. It would be good if the stripe tool worked in a similar way so you also could click a already drawn edge and make a new path from there. Am I making sence? Like streets in different directions.

Definetely interesting, will follow this!
