      I'm quite frustrated.

I have created a simple component. It's a house that has a car in front of it.

If I click the componen, the car is hidden, if I click again it's shown.

But when I click the component, a new instance is created. I really don't get the idea of that.

Is there a way to avoid this?

      Thanks πŸ˜„

          Hi

I have attached a simple house component.

What I need the house for is a site with copies of the same house.

To create some variation, I would like to be able to hide / unhide the car. I thought that I could use a dynamic component.

But if I copy the component around the site, a new instance of the component is created when I hide / unhide the car πŸ˜•

          Thanks

If you grouped the house and car instead of making them a component, you will find that the formula works only on the first site after copying and all the car visibility changes.
However if you physically alter some of geometry of one site/house/car then that group will work independently. I would move or swap the car as a further point of randomness to achieve this difference

So copies of DC components will become unique after the change. It was decided by the developers of the DCs. This is inline with the definition of a component.
Does it matter?, only one needs to purge the drawing after any deletes or explosions.

Another idea....you could make the site a group of groups then wrap that into a component ,which you then could explode all after the changes leaving the site groups? Then purge the drawing.

              Hi Philip

My fault - I thought that components where more 'smart' than it seems (to me).

I think I'll still have to do some manual work.

              Thanks
