Ply importer (for SU 2014)
-
 Hi!
I am using a .ply importer in Su2013,
but with SU2014 produces Bug Splat.
Perhaps the author can update?(I think it is Jim Foltz).
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi Roberto, Please see this topic for recent information on my PLY Importer. Please try the latest version and let me know if it still BugSplats. I do not get BugSplats using it in SketchUp 2014.

Jim, Thank you. I installed the plugin and it works in Su2014.
But I had to re-save in MeshLab the .ply file created from the original program, which produces binary encoding. In SU2013 had a folder and a file .rb (see attached picture)that in Su2014 produces bug splat: better to replace? P.S. it is possible, in the future, be able also import with binary encoding and
the colors inserted into the file .ply?

@micione said: In SU2013 had a folder and a file .rb (see attached picture)that in Su2014 produces bug splat: better to replace? Those files are from the SketchUp ply importer on GitHub. The latest version does not crash for me - have you tried the latest version from GitHub? There is a Download .zip button on the GitHub page @micione said: P.S. it is possible, in the future, be able also import with binary encoding and
the colors inserted into the file .ply? Both options are possible and planned. It is only a matter of making time to work on it.

Thanks Jim, now it works fine.
(was going to crash, trying to import a file ply, binary encoding.)

I haven't a chance to look into the crash, but I'm going to make a guess that the Ruby Importer is throwing an uncaught Ruby error which causes our importer code to crash. Need to look into that.
