I am not sure where to put this, other than Discussion.
I experienced the invisible selection box problem several days ago. And like some others, I "fiddled" with the OpenGL settings. Not too pleased with results. I also have fiddled with Simple Template feet and inches, mainly to remove profiles.
I wasn't totally satisfied, so I went looking for a video driver update.
NVidia GTS450 factory installed on a Dell Studio XPS, Win7 Pro.

After the update, I had browser freeze up problems requiring a force shutdown, BSOD occurrences causing a windows report that did not go through, and so forth. So, I rolled back to the previous driver. That seems to have helped. But it begs the question, why would an update create such problems? That is for NVidia to answer, if I can figure out who what when where to contact. Very opaque website--the takeaway is they are not interested in hearing from you.

At this point, when starting SU2014, the program toolsets that I have chosen and the frame load up immediately. It takes about 5 or 6 seconds for the rest of the window to fill out. That means a white screen in the workspace--no Sophie, no ground, no axes, no sky.

All of this experience makes me wonder if this is an under-publicized, under-attended problem to be dealt with by folks with that kind of expertise.

Do any of you have suggestions to consider, besides stop computing and move out to pasture?

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

If you mean why did I rollback the driver, it is suggested by windows to do this if performance problems are an issue. I interpreted this as one reason for the BSOD and display problems. Using available tools through Windows Control Panel was my first approach. After about 3 reports to wherever it is sent, I got back a response in the "Solve PC issues" system tray message thingy that Hewlett-Packard personnel wanted to have a crack at this. But the dataform presented was all about laptops, not desktops, and this just looked like another deadend backwater path to travel down.

EDIT: If you mean why did my profile say 2013? That was an oversight which I have corrected herewith. I am still using 2014, and this is the version in which I am experiencing this issue.
