Slow sketchup?

Hello,
I'm using sketchup8 pro
When ever I try to produce heavily detailed models, bolts, seams in siding, grass/bushes windows etc. etc....It take forever to move around the model?
I seem to be spending most of my time waiting for the model to move.
is this a program issue or a computer/hardware issue?
I'm sure someone here knows what I'm talking about, thanks in advance.

thank you for the response, I looked over the link you posted and almost everything was set to those parameters.
do you know if a "powerfull" pc would help the sluggishness of sketchup
-more ram faster processor
or do we all experience this when our models become very complex?
