Points for drilling are inside the components (green and blue circles).
Now I do it this way:-
I select all the components (furniture fitting) on the side of a wardrobe (scene - Side cabinet)
-
EXPLODE
-
I turn off layer Fitting
-
manually erase circles, which aren't lying on the side of the wardrobe
There is a plugin Select Edges by Z made by TIG.

But it doesn't work with groups and components. There's a plugin AutoComponentSelection by sdmitch.

It selects the components lying on selected surface, but also those lying above it.
What I need is to select only those lying on the indicated surface (wardrobes side).
Below there is a recording of the mentioned plugins working.
http://www.screencast.com/t/bfMBFMT0NIs there a plugin that would select only those groups/components lying on the selected surface of group?
A perfect solution for me would be the possibility to erase, within one operation, all of the components/groups lying on the selected surface except for those being a part of a layer e.g. X.
