Material cost for printing
One of the most popular pages on this blog is the one on filament volume and length. But, I didn't break down the cost of plastic per volume in that post. Since several people have asked, the really short answer is about a dollar per cubic inch.
-These are ball-park numbers, but the quick take-away is that it's about a nickel per cubic-centimeter, or 75-cents per cubic-inch:
-A 1 kg spool of ABS is ~960 cm^3, while PLA is 800 cm^3.
-At roughly $40/kg, ABS is roughly $0.04/cm^3, and PLA is $0.05/cm^3. For non-metric folks, that puts ABS at $0.65/in^3 and PLA at $0.82/in^3. - Joseph Chiu".Now your question:

Patrice, to be fair, there is a lot more that goes into the cost of a 3D print than just material. dukejazz did a wonderful job of breaking down the cost of the cheapest material available, but many machines use more expensive materials. You also need to include cost of the machine, electricity, operator time, and in some cases overhead costs like building rent.
Hope that helps explain why costs can be be so much!

Ok!Ok! I agree with both of you that there is a lot more that goes into the cost of a 3D print than just material.... But still, I join a picture including slice cut and dimensions of the object I asked a quote for.
The volume is something like 30000 mm3 which means accoording to Dukejazz material cost estimation of ABS $ 1,2 in material. The quote I get is $ 250..."That's why you need to print it yourself to save money and get the material direct for cheap - Dukejazz"

Patrice, if you go to http://www.3dhubs.com/ or http://www.makexyz.com/ you should be able to find someone near you with a desktop printer to give you a quote. The cost will be MUCH lower than using a print service. Your part looks easy to make on a small filament printer.
