PikNikPak - Picnic Packaging Concept
-
Upon a recent trip to Italy my partner and I were continuously wanting to grab some supplies from the Delicatessen, a bottle of vino and head somewhere nice for a picnic. Problem being that when you travel one normally doesn't have all the essentials.
I thought about the idea of a picnic in a box of sorts.
The box supplied when purchasing a bunch of smallgoods and deli produce, then easily carried and accessed during a picnic.
So with a bit of time spare today I drafted up a concept of how I thought this packaging might look. Trying to make it somewhat a mix between a picnic basket and the common brown paper shopping bag.

Great design and idea. A million dollar great design and idea.
Nice render too.
(get that protected ASAP. It really is a good idea)

Love it!
Reminds me of a smart fast-food concept....somewhere to hold a small bottle would be great.

Wow Oliver, that's clever as well. I am constantly not only appalled but frustrated by the way fast food to go is packaged here. They hand you your drink, which often doesn't fit in the cupholders, and then your bag of food, which is often missing straws, napkins and condiments. This certainly isn't for lack of cheap, clever and superior packaging ideas.
I "think" Richard's design is able to carry a bottle laying down within the package. Richard, is that right? Hard to judge the relative scale from the picture.
Oliver, do you have a link for the Togo Burger packaging?

I just typed in "fast food packaging concept" in google images, I remember seeing it a while back on a product design website but can't remember the name. I'm not hijacking by the way! Just food for thought.

Thanks Bryan - yeah I to thought it a million dollar idea though I've got a 100 million dollar idea that I need to gather the funds for protection. This one above is just to flog the domain with concept (to help gather those required funds for the "light bulb" idea).
BTW you cant get protection once published on the net (cat out of the bag already).

No mate just the produce, there is a problem with a wine bottle that it would off weight the package, and not all vendors sell wine, or the wine that the person wants. I've seen a great wine package that carries the bottle with two glasses. Brilliant.

Thanks Oli, I saw that one on Pinterest and thought it was amazing, well up until the point you have to unpack your lunch. Then I could see all sorts of issues, in particular if it's not coffee in the bottom - your chips go soggy from the steam and then the risk of spilling (burning) when you open it on a not so even surface.
VERY clever concept though!
The funny thing is though - there for me is no greater joy than finding those last few chips in the bottom of the old brown take away bag! It's like christmas. I've often wondered why it isn't management policy for staff to drop into the bag a half scoop of chips for that exact reason!

Nice Richard... But, I suppose no one ever told you not to share your million dollar ideas online before you patent it.
