[Plugin] Layers Panel 1.2.1
-
I have had the same problem as cmeed. The unexpected file format. Luckily for me I had a backup or I would have lost the file.
Note, I have the plugin TIG: Archiver v2.0 which is a life saver.

Thanks for your plugin.

Holy sh...
I'll try to reproduce the bug. That's a big problem if it corrupts files... I'm so sorry, I hope you didn't lose your work.I'll add a warning in the first post.
-
cmeed, can you check if you still have the dump/log files produced by the bugsplat ?
-
I have started again (this time with archiver as cover)

Oh wow, this is truly a nice plugin. I wished that the standard layers toolbar worked this way. Now I want to install in on both my laptop and the desktop machine. This is one of the cleanest plugins I have used. Great work Jiminy. My top 10 now.

I have 4 layers that are in my template. I wanted to get this under a group, so I could turn all the layers off at once. They are xlines, markcenter, workplane and cline. When I try saving a template file, I get unexpected file format and the program closes. On trying to open Sketchup again, I get the failed to open template file. Sketchup open but not with the template file that I saved.
However, when I open the standby template file, saved as a regular file, and then try to save this file as a template with the name I used above, I get the file exist and do you wish to over write the file. So something was saved.
Just trying to keep you abreast.

Thanks Ken, I'll look into that.

Ken, were these 4 layers created before you installed the plugin ? What happen when you create a new file, create the same layers, and try to save it as template ?
If you find a way to reproduce the bug every time, that would be really great ! I could propably debug this -

If you find a way to reproduce the bug every time, that would be really great ! I could propably debug thisWell OK, I noticed that there were other versions of this plugin in my plugin folder. So I deleted all files associated with this plugin and did a re-install. It now appears to be working. I can save a template file, and re-open and have the four layers still there and in the group I added.
Hope this helps.

I hope you have ever done:
Group - visible
Group - invisible
Should operate in a single clickThank you
-
What do you mean ? You can already hide/show groups with a single click.

Great ! I'm glad it works now.
But did you have the corrupt template multiple times ? I mean, was it just one time or was it systematic ?EDIT : When you say you had multiple versions installed, was it a beta (layer_panel.rb) and an old alpha version (Layers Panel.rb) ? Otherwise, I don't understand how you can have multiple versions

Okay, I find a way to reproduce the bug in version 0.3 :
- Open blank file
- Open LP's dialog
- Create group
- Save as template
I get "Incorrect format file" each time.
The good news is I don't get this with version 0.3.1 !
So it was probably related to the group names bug. So please update everybody !Thanks a lot Ken for your feedback, it helped me a lot finding the way to reproduce it.
I hope it was the same problem cmeed had, even though he didn't save as template.

For people understanding ruby :
I fully identified the cause of the problem : The plugin trying to save "nil" as an AttributeDictionary key.
@layerDictID
beingnil
(the bug about group names)
@model.set_attribute("jbb_layerspanel_groups", @layerDictID, groupName)
-
Well I was looking the plugin directory an found more than one layerpanel directory and some other files I believe came from other installations. I don't remember all the names, I just removed everything having to do with layerpanel. And re-installed and presto it works.
Thanks for looking into this plugin.
Wishing you luck.

No groups, but the group of layers.
It is now possible to make invisible only one layer.
If you see me group 5 layers, this group click on the "eye", I wish that all the five layers in the group would become visible or not.Thanks.
P.S.
Sorry for the very poor proficiency in English. -
If you put layers in a group, and hide that group, all the nested layers will be hidden.
But maybe you're talking about selecting multiple layers and hide them all with one click? I'm not sur about that workflow
