Filling voids
-
I have assembled a clump of brick shapes, each one touching and overlapping
its neighboring shapes by a little, so that the whole group is interlinked.
Each brick shape is deployed at at different angle, so in between the brick and its
neighbors, negative spaces occur. I would like to fill those individual spaces
with a solid shape to interlock the neighboring shapes, being able to size the
fills so they don't obliterate the faces of the interconnected bricks. Can someone
please offer a way to approach this? Thank you all! You helped me a lot,
answering my first posted inquiry- thank you!! -
Peter, I can hardly picture your issue. A couple of images - or even better, the skp file itself - would be extremely helpful.

Thanks for your reply! I'm attaching the skp file, and a pdf picture. Hope these help clarify.

I don't myself see an automatic way to do this, but people write plugins for all sorts of situations. I can't imagine a straight forward way for the computer to know where to put the fill. So you could try creating a freeform shape--as cleanly as you can so you can make it a solid--then use a boolean plugin to subtract the bricks from it.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try to find a plug-in that does what you recommend.
I've been trying to insert small planes into a bunch of 4 or 5 bricks at a time, trying
to make it intersect with that group, and repeat the process so I can negotiate all the
planar tilts. I don't have anywhere near the skill set yet, if ever, to create a contour
blanket that parallels the whole form uniting them in one shot. Thanks again for your help!Best Regards!
