Create equidistant guides
-
Hello everyone,
I am both a new member and a new user of sketchup...
I watched several tutorials and there is one thing in this particular tuto that I can't do :
http://sketchupforwoodworkers.com/tutorials/2009/01/30/dados-rabbets-and-guides/it's about creating equidistant guides between 2 ones. In the video the command "/4" is used to create 4 guides between 2 guides.
I looked in a lot of places and searched some explanations on how it works but with no result. In the video it looks like pretty simple but when I am typing "/4" or "/with any number" nothing happened. The same video's author use the command "*4" to multiply an object...it works perfectly for me too so I really don't understand why I can't do his "/" command.
So could someone help me on this point ?
Should I have to download a plugin ?Thank you !

You are using / and not \ ?
Move+Ctrl to copy the selected thing[s] to the final [total] distance, then immediately type /4 +<enter> to make the intermediate copies... You can type other /NN +<enter> to adjust the number of copies until you select another tool, when the changes are frozen [but you can of course use Undo if you want]
You can copy ANY kind of 'entity' - include guide-lines... -
Yes I believe you are right, you must copy move the object to it final place for it to divide the distance inbetween .

Thank you for you quick answers !
**TIG :**You are using / and not \ ?
yes I am using / and not
I tried move+crtl but I think it only works for object ? Am I right ?**Mechtec :**To avoid misunderstood ...I don't want to copy an object I want to create equidistant guides as shown in the tuto. With the measure tool.
Maybe I wasn't clear enough.

Well sorry I got bored trying to watch that video to see the example, but you don't make an array of guides with the measure tool, as far as I know. You use the move tool. Move the guideline while pressing option on the Mac, Control on the PC and let go at the far target. Then type /5 or what have you.
So you are copying an object, but in this case a guideline.
