Convert 2d landscape photo into 3d model?
-
i have a photo from a country club that has an tree that, among other things, i need to include in my model. i need to drop in a pedestrian bridge that crosses over a pond and small waterfall leading to a tree that is frequently used for weddings. the bridge carries over the small pond and needs to end at the tree. so i have a number of photos of the setting and i guess i need to figure out how to turn the photos into a 3d model? i am familiar with photo match, but trying to do that with the trees and the irregular terrain surrounding seems problematic. is there a plugin or extension i can purchase that will enable me to convert the entire picture into 3d?

The best I can offer in my Image2Component plugin that will import images and make them components.

http://www.tgi3d.com/index.php?Page=PhotoScan
There is a 30 days trial, never test.
If you google "model 3D from picture" you will find some info. -
I would suggest using said photo and name to find the land in google earth and then import it into sketchup.

thanks, i will give these a try.

Can you possibly post an image because it will really help to understand your issue.

attached. i started with an open source program, insight3d, anyone have any opinions? the tgi3d looks good, but its $999. I would download the free trial, but I will get sucked in and spend 8 hours getting used to the software, but i think the price point is a bit high for me.

I can't see a photo....
You can do this in SU. I did a similar sounding project; a bridge structure over a stream in a forest using just SU and Twilight.
It's not an exact science at times and there are several ways to achieve your goal. Once you match the focal length of the camera, it's just a case of moving it around/scaling/compositing.
