Restoring bouncing edges
-
Hello,
I'm facing a wired issue with Sketchup 8. I have some surfaces which seem to have no more edges. I first thought the edges were soften, reason why I can't see them, and thought I could restore them using ctrl + shift + eraser. But, as opposed to other surfaces where ctrl + shift + eraser works, these surfaces really seem not to have edges anymore. Nevertheless, I can select the bouncing edges of the surface by right-clicking the surface and going to Select > Bouncing Edges in the contextual menu but still cannot do anything in order to restore them as "normal edges". Trying to copy/paste the selection results in a duplicate of the same surface but still without edges...
I'm a little bit lost. Did you already have to face this issue. If so, could you please tell me how you solved it? (Don't tell me "just redraw", please, please!.. )
Thanks in advance.

The edges are probably on the wrong layer (different from the faces). Make sure all your edges, faces, circles and arcs, curves etc. are on Layer0. Only groups and components and text should be assigned to other layers. That also means that inside the groups and components the "raw" geometry (edges etc.) are on Layer0 only. Layer0 should always be the "active" layer (unless you are doing something special and you know what that is).

I guess I could suggest that the first thing I would try is make all layers visible. Also try to unhide All in case there is something in the current context hidden. You can also look at Hidden Geometry, if you still can't find your lines. Then (drastically) put everything on Layer0, or if you know how to, deselect groups and components, and with all else selected, assign it all to Layer0

Maybe that they are just hidden, triple click on your surface then right click unhide?

Hi folks.
If hidden entities are inside groups and components, using Unhide Alloutside these context will not reveal these objects.
Don't forget to use View Menu --> Hidden geometryto reveal what might be hidden. All entities, even nested in groups and componenst, will show.
Just ideas.
