Any smokers here? Wanna quit?

I like some throat hit whereas some people don't.

I've also cut down my vaping a bit but not ready to totally quit yet.
In the beginning I'd vape a tank and two batteries a day, today I probably fill a tank once a week and cannot remember when last I switched my battery for a charged one. I now go out without a vape some days I get to afternoon before realizing I have not vaped that day (that's when I start craving)
I'm guessing by years end I will be completely done.

Not that sort of throat hit Rich!

Started vaping last week so the journey begins. I've smoked cigarettes for 45+ years and it's kind of cool when I only smoke one cigarette during a 12-hour shift. That's usually 1 1/2 packs. My boss has been vaping for a couple of years and lent me one of his mods. Even bought me a new tank. Nice guy.
I ordered all kind of new goodies. Like a kid in a candy store. Best part is that they have already paid for themselves. Hope this works out like it has for a lot of you guys.

4 years cigarette free.
-
think i'm closing in on 2 years this july.
never want to smoke again
-
2 years last Tuesday. 12mg nicotine. About 15mls per week.
-
4 years this month, 1.2mg nicotine. I'm thinking about quitting vaping as well. I hate cigarette smoke now, it makes me sick, literally.

Guys, check this site out, http://abillionlives.com
I just watched the documentary and it looks like Govs, Big Pharma and the tobacco industry is winning the battle to have vaping products banned in the US and heavily taxed in the EU.
I'm going to quit cigs when my current supply of rolling tobacco runs out, probably in a week or so. I doubt vaping products will be banned in Ireland but I have no doubt the Gov would be more than willing to go along with heavily taxing the juice .... bastards!

Best of luck Mike, are you getting a vape to ease the transition or cold turkey? I can't tell you how much better you'll feel.
With regards to taxing liquids; just make your own juice. 4 ingredients, 5 minutes. I've been doing it for 4 years. Cheap as chips.
I've never understood how/why people buy 30ml bottles of liquid for £15. It's almost as expensive as smoking if you do that haha! "Luxury" and "Premium" liquids are total bollocks believe me. Find one you like and just make a clone.
With regards to the implemented TPD regulations...as a consumer I've not noticed anything too drastic. You can't buy very large bottles of e liquid and you can't buy a tank over 2ml. You can still get hold of them though, they are just sold for "use without nicotine". I'm also kinda glad they regulated the liquids to some degree, it pretty much stopped all bedroom brewers producing nasty e liquid for sale. People were filling bathtubs and mixing in those! You also won't be able to buy the 72mg nicotine, but you can through a company account. So not all doom and gloom, vaping is very much here to stay and the cat is out the bag.

Got a nice new device. I don't normally agree with buying clone devices, but in the case of the Billet Box I take exception. It's almost impossible to buy a genuine Billet Box. You have to login to a website at a certain time on a certain day of the month. Then you have to battle with literally thousands of people clicking refresh to see the inventory. Also $250 for a vape is just nonsense. I've always wanted a Billet Box though.
Anyway, a company called SXK saw the opportunity to make a clone and it's amazing! I got one in black and one in silver for my brother. Beautiful quality! Here is the shop link.
BLACK: https://www.provapes.co.uk/products/billet-box-v4-style-black
SILVER: https://www.provapes.co.uk/products/billet-box-v4-style-silver
The device is tiny. I can't see how it's possible to have a smaller box mod. It has a large liquid capacity (maybe 6 or 7ml). Everything is enclosed within the box itself. Construction is solid aluminium with anodised finish. BY placing the chip and tank to the side of the battery, you get an ultra compact design. Ultra stealthy and discrete.
You can use aftermarket coils including Kanger and Aspire, or use the enclosed rebuildable deck. All the bridging components for the aftermarket coils come included.
Probably the best quality device I've used since a Provari (and it's a clone) 10/10. Just can't see how this can be improved upon.
Pictured below is with a Kanger 0.5 OCC coil which you can buy from pretty much anywhere (same as Toptank and Subtank). Standard 18650 battery. To fill the tank, you just slide down the borosilicate glass and squirt your juice in! Happy days!

So I got a vape, the target pro http://www.vaporesso.com/vape-kits-target-pro-vape-kit
and I'm getting used to vaping, but this setup makes me cough! Is that because of the type of vape, or the juice? The juice is from Dinner lady, called lemon tart http://vapedinnerlady.com/dinner-lady-range/ It's marked 6 mg.

Hi.
In the time it takes me to put these thoughts together, it is likely someone else will post some of the same things. I am not an expert, and I suggest you get more than one opinion on the following info. I also waited a couple of days in case someone else responded:I didn't look too hard at your links.
However, the flavor might be so tart that it is causing the cough. Does a sneeze follow the cough? I get that sometimes, and I am now down to zero mg.
Are you allergic to propylene glycol? Allergy to this is a common factor. Unless your juice is maximum ratio glycerine(typically flavors are mixed with minimal PG as a carrier/solvent, so there may always be some PG).
Could 6mg nicotine/ml juice be too much to start? Then get some 0mg and mix down with different ratios, if you have the time to fiddle with it.
Some flavors are more delicate than others and don't need extreme power to deliver the taste, so:
Have you set the voltage/wattage too high, or, if you have temperature control, is this set too high?
If you have other questions you might check out ecf or: https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com Just about every question since 2008 or thereabout has been explored.
Maybe the above will help.

Some good advice! I'll go talk with the place I bought it at and ask them these same questions, appreciate it!

I vape 6mg juice at 9watts. Any higher and I find the throat hit too severe.
-
Some flavours cause more throat hit than others, especially citrus ones.
If you want something smooth I recommend a blend of 70/30 VG/PG as opposed to 50/50 VG/PG.
It's the PG that can catch your throat, not the VG.
PG carries flavour well and VG creates good clouds.
And yeah, play round with your device settings.....start low and increase to where you like it. If it tastes bad, go backwards haha
-
Everyone is different but this has worked for me starting out:
1)3 mg nicotine
2)coils rated for 20 - 35 wattsLike Oli said, don't waste your money on "premium" e-juice. I did and found that the $11 120ml juice from Broke Dick was just as good or better. Ordering some DIY supplies today.
Got a Smok Alien my second week of vaping. Marvelous piece of work. One evening over a few beers I vaped some 6 mg nicotine @ 65 watts and got sicker than a dog. Lesson learned. Now when I want to blow clouds I use 0 nic juice.
Don't be afraid of watts. Most juices shine at higher wattages and taste totally different than rocking it at 20 watts. More watts = more money though. You'll go through coils and juice faster. I use a combination of both low and high wattage now that I have growing collection of mods and tanks.

Exactly so Oli
Here I am.
he he
Of course I managed this e-cig thing. (As I mastered the other Blender monster LOL)
Two years into the vapeland. No smoking, not at all.
I vape a 6mg 50/50 PG VG DIY. On a ~1.7 Ohm. ~ 4.2 V / 10.4 W (the Ohm's Law)
I tried sub Ohm, however I found that a lower than 3mg might work for me. Well, it didn't. -

Olly, seen this?
Yes, there seems to be more vapers than smokers over here now. There are vaping bars, lounges, cafes, coffeeshops, etc..
The TPD regulations came in but they haven't affected me at all because I make my own juice. I can still buy everything I need no problem and it's still just as cheap.
Tank sizes are now 2ml (give or take) and bottles are being sold in 10ml units now (lol).
