Lines showing up
-
I am modeling a large tank that is made made of 1/4" steel. Seems that objects that I draw on one side of the tank, are showing through the side walls when I zoom out. Made sure the objects are on the correct sides of the wall. I played with the edge settings some but had no luck. Any way to avoid this problem? See attached

Hi,
This is a picture of LayOut output? This will happen, even if your tank has thickness if you are viewing from further away. In going to LO it should improve some but can still be there. It is a function of SU. If you were to export a high resolution SU image this can disappear to some extent.
As for edges if you lessen the pixel size of profile edges (or don't show them) and remove all endpoints, it helps. As close a view as possible helps.
Increasing the output quality in LO helps. Your image does not look to be of very good quality. It shouldn't be that aliased looking.
If you have thickness on the tank and this persists, You can hide the lines that are offending. If you find that a hassle (because you want to see them on interior views) You might move a group of that interior geometry to another layer and hide that layer for the exterior views.

Also, please, have a look at this tutorial/explanation.

Thanks, that certainly explains it. The pic I uploaded was from SU, I exported it to PDF and zoomed in on it for the screen capture shot only so I could post it on here to show what I meant, hence it looks extra poopy. The problem persists none the less when going to LO as you mentioned, it does lessen the effect, but it is still there. Profile is as low as it goes so I guess I am stuck with the bleed through. I hate having to hide so many various things, when I go back to project a month later I can never remember what I did.
Shame it does that. Hope it improves some day.

Don't use "Hide". Use layer control. Just setup layers for things you want to see or hide. Then set the layer control within each scene. The individual scenes in SU will remember the layer routine so you don't have to.
