Temple Of Apollo Stourhead Gardens

Seems I have seen a little monument like this in Toscane (by Leonard da Vinci ?)

wow that's an amazing image chedda!
is the lighting done by a HDRI? the one thing about maxwell bothering me, is that i can't use HDRI lighting and the physical sun at the same time. would be awesome to have the main lighting done by HDRI and get some highlighting by the physical sun.

Thankyou for all the comments guys. Pilou apparently the inspiration for the temple was based on a circular temple at Baalbec. Perhaps also Mr Da Vinci was influenced from this. Carloh it hadn't crossed my mind about mixing lights like that. In this case i was using an overcast hdri so direct highlights were not going to happen. Perhaps what you are looking for can be done in PP. I think you can also edit hdri's to add light sources to them to get the effect you are after.Sometimes using a hdri as a background but having the physical sky & sun for lighting can be convincing. Or try to find hdri's which cast good shadows and highlights.
Twenty years ago i visited Stourhead as an architecture student and it has never really left me.If anyone is in the UK or get's a chance to visit i highly recommend it.

I thought of Stourhead when I saw this... the son who brought home the ruins of Italy to his familial home right? I don't mean literally of course but inspiration from. I was amazed that such money would be spent for facades and building with no practical use but their ambiance.

The temple is almost a folly, the whole place has a sense of fantasy but that was the idea. I'm not sure whether it's neo classical, renaissance or british romantic but it for sure makes a nod to antiquity. This was the age of the grand tour when people brought home the influences they saw. By the way these guys were super rich aristocracy so they had the funds for a whole landscape. The whole place is absolutely stunning get there if you can.

Stourhead is definetely a prime example of an english landscape garden, which belong to the era of classicism if i don't remember my garden history seminar uncorrectly.

This is the view inside looking up into the dome. There is a lower dome with an oculus (hole) cut into it, this stops you seeing the windows around the edge and completes the illusion.
