Brand new at this

I am brand new at sketchup but I like it. I am trying to use the KKWS tools to design a tool chest. The first time I used it I got an error. I input the pin data in the popup and then when it asks me to select the component it tells me that it has to be a valid component. I don't understand. Is there a specific way I need to make a component to make this work?
