Fredo plugin downloads
-
Hi, I am a newbie, but I have been using sketchup and drawings various shapes and getting better. My current goal is to draw an acoustic guitar, many complicated shapes.
I feel I am at the point where I need some plugins. I have already downloaded some, bezier curves, workplane and others, very useful.
It looks to me like I need something like Fredo's curviloft to do some complicated combined curved shapes. It is not clear to me how to download and install these plugins. The instructions are a bit confusing, seems that you need to download a library first, then the plugin....not sure what's going on...Thanks

OK, I am a little bit further with it, I downloaded the zip file, I opened it put all the rb files together with the image folder, zipped it, and renamed with extension rbz.
Located it in the preferences section of sketchup, sketchup tried to load the files but said there was an error....

You must load the Libfredo files and the Fredo tools, such as Curviloft or JointPushPull into the "Plugins" subfolder of the Sketchup Application in the x86 Programs Folder. You must have Administrative Rights to that folder in order to place these files.

some of our plugin developers are so advanced that they have what you might call common tools that their own plugins use and each of them will use this same small library plugin and will be required for their use.
Tig, ThomThom and Fredo are just a few that have many, many plugins. In each plugin forum thread they will let you know all the required install files. As they build their repertoire of plugins they will update these libraries.
fredo even has one that will check for plugin updates.
As far as I know Sketchup only has a few ways to install an add-on.
- drag and drop a .rb file into the plugins folder.
- drag and drop a plugin folder structure into the plugins folder and then go to Sketchup in the Preferences menu and use the install extension option.
- an exe that installs a plugin for you.

Thanks. I got it now, you just have to follow the Fredo instructions and load the library first.
Cheers,
Jacques
