you going this season sepo? I'm going zermatt end of march, hopefully still be lots of snow!
I was already in November and will go at least twice before the end of season. Love Zermatt. Was there end of March -beginning of April in 2012.

Yeah I have seen that amazing video but worth another watch!! I have a full HD video of my flight but it needs editing, was the best experience of my life by far. When I flew over the summit it felt like a scene from Cliffhanger! The scale is beyond comprehension. Hey Sepo I was there at the exact same time, we maybe bumped into each other and didn't realise! I was staying at the ambassador near the train station and I'll be there again end of march to early april this year, if you fancy a heli ski. over 13 miles of continuous skiing!!

Hey Oli, a good friend of mine owns a heliski operation about 40 minutes from where I live.

Just outrageous terrain and powder! (speaking of snow, this is him on a run)

It was quite possible that we were in the same place....btw off piste is on the Cervinia side or Zermatt side?

Off piste Zermatt side. Price includes a Swiss guide for the day. We couldn't do it last time because of the avalanches, so we just did the matterhorn fly-over and dropped off around kleine. I will upload some more pics of the journey, it was just heaven.
Dale, your friend's job is so amazing, I pretty much hate him Thanks, always looking to broaden my horizon further than europe.

OK, Mattehorn tour!
Take off from air zermatt, then fly round to italian side:
First glimpse of matterhorn from italian side:
Jeff, the ridge you see here is the one they skim in the video you posted.
BYE BYE!!

This is where I ski every week. 20 minutes drive from my office. Not the alps, but pretty amazing open boundary ski area!
And the car that replaced the bimmer:

Where is that Sonder?

Chris! Your in Davis. It's Alpine Meadows. So come up and ski.
Btw, my sister was just hired as the director of equine medicine at UCD.

If that was 20 minutes drive from my office, let me tell ya, that slope would be my new office!!
Had a big snowfall on the Pennines last night, now it's all melting.

probably already saw this but...]
The guy in the blue suit...
That's me.
I wear it as a snuggy sack at night too.

You guy's really uped the ante on snow photos, so here is a blizzard at midnight. -
That's cool. Always enjoy your photographs Roger.
-
Thanks Pete. That is a 30 second exposure at f2.8 and ISO 1600. It was dark enough that I could not see much through the view finder and had to bracket the focus to get a sharp image. Normally even light breeze action on an exposure that long will blur the photo, but it was one of those soft windless snow falls and branch movement was damped by the weight of the snow.
-
Stunning.
-
And on the day after the snow was gone from my yard but still on the mountain. -
from my office this morning. . . just another day in January in my little town.
