      Hi
I am new to forums so forgive my mistakes.

I am trying to create my own dynamic components which space nested components as they are scaled along their length. I have followed one on youtube by concept3Dmodeling and another by Trimble/google, both times, when I try to constrain a length using an = sign I get a red# sign before the = sign and red numbers instead of the black text I should get.

      Thanks for any help

      Ian

Ian, how about posting the model, or at least a screen-shot of the Component Attributes dialog?

        Hi

          Jim

          Thanks for your reply

Hopefully you can see the image below, I uploaded it to my web site library, let me know if you can't & I'll try something else, like putting it live on a page of it's own.

Basically instead of the LenX line reading =167.9...cm written in black it reads #=167.9....cm written in red and nothing will work on dynamic input after that. I have done dynamic components a while ago, which worked fine.

          regards Ian

It appears DC's don't support using a units modifier in a formula. Just don't put the 'cm' after the value. Is there some example out there that makes use of a modifier? I'd be curious to know.

            Hi

Cheers Jim. I will give it a try next time I have a spare minute.
