Weird Windows 7 problem
-
Recently got a new computer with Windows 7 (had XP) so not entirely up to speed on it, but do know how to find files.
Last few days I've downloaded some components from FormFonts. They appear in SU, and have no problems using them. However, I decided to better organize them by creating some new folders. But, when I open the folders they are in, they do not appear! Anyone have any experience with this?

You've probably already checked this, but are the attributes set to Hidden for them? If you take a look at the directory from a DOS window are they in the folders? You could also take a look at ZTree (if you're familiar with the old XTree) to find and manipulate attributes/etc.

I don't remember if win 7 does it like vista, but in Vista there are "compatibility folders" and often downloaded content gets hidden in those. Navigate to the folder and look for "Compatibilty Files" or something like that on the top of the explorer window. Click on that and you will be taken to another folder that has the missing items. Just move them back to their preferred location.
But maybe Win 7 doesn't work like that.

Hi Daniel,
did you have a look into the Control panel? There is Folder options.
and it should be checked the option show hidden files, folders and drives.

Check and see if they went to a file like AppData>Temp?

Thanks for the suggestions.
I've already checked for hidden files (no luck)
Cannot find an AppDate folder, nor the temp folder suggested.I am contacting the computer gurus who built the machine and set it up; there is an issue with my CAD program, as well. Oh, the joys of a new computer!

You can use following variables in startmenu search field:
%PROGRAMDATA%
%LOCALAPPDATA%
%APPDATA%
