What To Charge?

I often wonder what the goings rates are for 3D services.

Can some of you share the rates you charge and for what kind of particular 3D services from your regions?

Any related information such as client expectations, industry, level of completion quality, etc, would be great as well.

I'm not looking for personal information, just trying to get a general idea.

Thanks Tim. Most of the info I was looking for is on the first page of the thread.

I already have the freelancing scars. (years and years) Just wanted to get an idea about the 3D design rates. Seems about the same for other complex and technical creative work.

If anyone else would like to add some anecdotes, I'm all ears.

Here's one thought I am having when work slows down and I tend to do more for less: Always keep track of your time, regardless of the actual billing hours.

And (in general) it might be interesting to keep track of your life expense to do the work--software and learning costs, any commuting, sacrifice of home life. How much are you trading in your life for the work and the money? When you punch a clock, it's one thing, but these ideas come to the fore when you are freelancing.

Not to mention amortization of investment in physical equipment. Printers? Computers? Servers?
You would not pile it all on one commission, obviously.
