I have been using Sketchup for a little while now (about a year and a half). I mainly use it for my Woodworking plans, but I also use it to model houses, spaceships (Sci-Fi fan). I've been drawing cars since I was a kid, but I am having difficulty figuring out how to draw a car on Sketchup.
I really only have a couple plug-ins on sketchup (Soap Bubble, and Kerkythea to Sketchup) I am hoping to learn more about those in the future.
Now I'm just going to look around here and see what I can learn from all of you.

Welcome, Jim:
Dig around a bit for some excellent car tutorials here and on youtube. There are plenty of scifi fans here also. Check out the Woodworking subforum. -
Thanks Tim, I have been looking around aimlessly so far, but that will most likely change soon.

Welcome Jim.
Check out the book section here.
http://sketchucation.com/shop/booksIf you can pony up a few bucks get Elisei's books on car modeling.
Also, check this dude's stuff out:
http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?169091-My-Sketchup-worksThere is a video down in the middle somewhere where he models a car from scratch too.

Thanks Eric, I'll be sure to check it out.

Well after looking around through some of the tutorials I've found, none seemed to suit me, I did however start messing around with the Curviloft and found it really useful in making car like forms. Here is my first car drawn on sketchUp, it's nothing major but it is a start.
I have a larger pic @ Devinat Art (Need to figure out how links work here).
BTW: If there is a more appropriate place to post this type of content, please let me know.

Yeah, now that you are creating content, you can post your works to the "gallery" forum. Typically questions go into the "newbie" or "sketchup" forum. Once you have something to show, put it in the gallery. Its always ok to cross over a little, or ask a question in the gallery. But typically you'll get best responses by posting things in the pre-defined forums.

Good to know, I'll use the gallery next time.

Git thee to the gallery! (show-off)

Yeah, definitely. And don't you ever dare to post in the newbie forum again!

Wasn't sure if I should post it again in the gallery, but I will.

http://ixlrlxi.livejournal.com/113673.htmlThanks, glad you liked it.
As for ixlrlxi, I just watched some of his videos on You Tube. Not only are they good for seeing a car tut, but it's also good for anyone interested in seeing Fredo's plug-ins in action (search for 600v to see the videos on you tube).
