There is a sneaky way to fake stars, I did an experimental scene in Podium when I first started rendering...you can use a perforated globe with lights behind to create a galaxy. It's probably a daft way of doing things but it works!

Thanks for the suggestion and quick tut.
What I really need is a good way to make believable near orbit planets.
What I usually use for backgrounds are just photo images on an SU cyclorama or flat plane with photo.

They are the long range forward sensors.

Forward public observation decks. (top center modules)
Lower deck is a public plaza, upper deck is restaurant/club/ballroom.
The windows are 10ft sq.

Couldn't wait. First rough test render.
3 minutes to export. 1.2 million triangles. 5 minutes to render.

this is the kind of work that I want to grab a comfortable lounge, my favorite drink and popcorns, sit and relax and watch it growing!!!
