This plugin is ready for public use and is aimed at woodwookers that draw models in sketchup to build in their shop. Select a single component, single parent component or 2 or more components and the program is found on the right click context menuThe program is described below:

Place the Component on a new layer named from the component

Layer name includes prefix A##- where ## is 2 digit no (01...99)

All instances of the component will be placed on the new A##- layer

A second new Drawing Layer named Z-## will be created.

A copy of the Board will be added to the Z-## Layer for the Drawing Scene

If user has MakeOrthoViews.rb installed then ortho views are created

The drawing Scene will be updated

Added NC2SCENE to make layer and scene for Nested Component

Added GP2SCENE to make Sub Assembly scene for 2 or more components

Added C2SCNE to make scene for Component already placed on its Named Layer

Added SETPREF to allow user to set Preferences [Plugins/Set Comp2Layer Pref]

I have created a youtube demo at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vshabhT-UEA

      Edited 4/21/2014

I have released version 2.0 @ the SketchUcation Plugin Store

The program now makes the orthographic views and thus you no longer need the "Make Ortho Views" plugin

The prefix for the layer name is completely optional.

The drawing views are offset so the main view can be on layer0.

I see that many models are drawn with all components visible on layer0
This makes it easy to use the drawing scenes for a model that was drawn without separating components on individual layers
Added the make a new hidden layer command for the users convenience

Thanks to all the help I received from the Developer's Forum
      Keith

        Keith,

I am not familiar with the .RBZ file. How do I install and use it?

Don, I see you have version 8. This is new in 8. Open your Preferences panel (Window menu) and go to the extensions tab. At the bottom, there is a button "Install extension". A file browser pops up which only accepts RBZ files.

RBZ (short for RuBy Zip) is actually a renamed ZIP archive (you can change the extension to ZIP to see what's in there). The "new", convenient way to install extensions (plugins)

          Gai...

                Keith,
Thanks for a quite useful plugin. I installed it and purchased the standalone MakeOrthoView plugin from smustard. In that version, the generate_ortho_views function is not called by JF.generate_ortho_views anymore but by JF::MakeOrthoViews.generate_ortho_views. Just a find/replace in your Comp2LayerScene.rb works well.
                Cheers,
                Phil

                  Hello
I am French, and does not speak English very well. To write to you, I used the translator Googgle.
I downloaded from the site Ruby Library Depot K2WS_tools your plugin.
Thank you for this plugin, but in this one, there are two drop-down menu functions that do not work: "M_T joint" and "Tenon".
Is it possible that you can watch what prevents these features to run.
                  In advance thank you
PS: As this plugin is apparently no longer visible on this site, I will contact you from this post

                    Hello
I will answer from this post, because the email you gave me does not work, and I can not send PM. This is about the plugin K2WS_tools.
Thank you for your reply. In my turn I meet you later, because as I had no answer, I was not going on the site.
My problem is solved. I struggled to find the solution.
                    Let me explain:
I wanted to use your plugin with menus and dialogs in French because I confess that at school I did not much like to study languages. I regret it now.
I do not know anything about the Ruby script, but I know you could edit transforming the extension "txt".
I fumbled a lot and spent a lot of time but I got there. But there were menus that did not work, and I thought that it came from your program. This is why I wrote to you.
I do not know if you can give me an explanation, but it did not work because the program does not accept focus on "e" at the end of words such as with the French words "square", "end" "degree". I searched a lot to find it. Is this normal?
In any case, your plugin is great and helps me a lot for my hobby is carpentry. Again thank you for it.

                    Bricofranck59

PS: Why this plugin no longer appears in your library?
and I used the google translator to write you.

Released Version 2.0 To the SketchUcation Store or see original post for new file:

Note: If you are using an older version of SketchUp (7) change the rbz extension to zip to use the file

                      1. The program now makes the orthographic views and thus you no longer need the "Make Ortho Views" plugin

                      2. The prefix for the layer name is completely optional.

                      3. The drawing views are offset so the main view can be on layer0.
This makes it easy to use the drawing scenes for a model that was drawn without separating components on individual layers

                      4. Added the make a new hidden layer command for the users convenience

                      Keith

Comp2LayerScene: It would be nice if it created all 6 views instead of just 5. I work around it by pre-positioning the component, but it would be easier to delete the not-needed ortho view if all 6 were created.

                        K2tools: I love the dovetails.
The domino tool has bug(s) that make it not useable.
I have not tried the othere but have heard of similar problems with the motice/tenon so maybe you should check it.

                        Thank you.
                        Jim

I guess I could add the 6th view. I never needed it in any of my models. One way around this problem is to select the preferred view for your main view and delete the rest then use DwgViews from the drop down menu to create the remaining 4 views.

About problems with the K2WS_Tools I have not had any feedback but would be interested in the problems you see in the program. With out a description and or model you leave me in the dark. If any of the tools had problems I would have expected the dovetails. PLEASE reply on the forum or message or by email kbkrueger2@gmail.com I recently had back surgery so I am out of the shop and looking for things to do that require no physical labor.

                              Dear Keith Krueger,
can you update the plugin for Sketchup 2017.
I've tried on two PCs, Sketchup 2017 x64, Win 10
The only thing that work its dwg views. Comp2Scene and comp2scene\layers creates only assembly scene.

                              Thanks
