UK Brick Gauge
-
Using the idea from this thread here's a couple of brick gauges for UK sized bricks.

The idea would be to place the component(s) on elevations to ensure you get the window/door openings etc correct.
The metric one uses 225 x 75 pitching with 10mm mortar joints.
The imperial one uses 9" x 3" pitching with 3/8" mortar joints.

Hi, Paul. Thanks for this.
May I add some comments that I hope are helpful. Of course, you may already know this: In the US, a lot of brickwork is done with the modular face brick. This is a brick 2 1/4" x 3 5/8" x 7 5/8", nominally 2x4x8. Using 3/8" standard joint thickness, 3 bricks and 3 joints is 8" vertical. Horizontally, you can lay out a wall and plan your openings on 8" multiples. And using this mnemonic: 8", Odd+4", Even, Even+8". Odd+4 would be like 1 foot, 4 inches, or 3 feet, 4 inches. Even would be like 2 feet, and Even+8 would be like 2 feet, 8 inches.
