Watch the vomit inducing blurb here....
Sorry no quicktime in my system
Quickly did read trough the features sheet. Did they run out of ideas... a new row for icons, da da da daa... a new connector and a panorama mode for camera. It's still a nice phone, but sort of expected more. -

That sucks

the only thing is that is not Google Maps (also in iOS6 there will be no default YouTube app)

I still thing I'm gettin one....

Meh!!
I got a 4s, not planning to get 5, not much there to justify the costs, My upgrade is next month probably going for the Galaxy with the new Jelly Bean 4.1.
-
What else can you DO to a phone? Just to have it sound better would be nice. I was just taking stock, I use my iPhone (v2 I think?)as a 1) phone 2) camera if I forget mine (Usually is a no good picture in the end) 3) Google maps sometimes on trips. 4) a time piece and alarm sometimes. I hardly load anything or look at the stuff I loaded.
oh and, 5) I play a little Go game when I am waiting for my haircut...
So I guess a lot of this hype is wasted on me. And I won't buy one til mine breaks.
Oh wait. I read it does NOT have NFC, and that's something I probably would use.
-
I'll be sticking with my 4S for quite some time as I have too many add-ons that would need to be replaced.

an integrated taser might be neat
(probably horrible for the battery though )

Don't laugh Jeff .... but ....errrrr ..... http://www.indiegogo.com/yellowjacket
A small industry has built up around the iPhone and in turn a following of gadget nuts, I include myself in this. It become a bit of a hobby for me .... I really need to get a life!
Also the selection of apps is second to none and still growing. I do however wish they would open up the apps more as there are quite a few good ones that are only available on JB'd iPhones.
Still, if someone is looking for a good smart phone the SIII definitely deserves serious consideration.

Ask Siri what he thinks,

Looks like one of the biggest complaints about the iPhone5 so far is the Lightning Connector! Ask to make matters worse Apple are charging $30 for an adapter! I now see that others are getting in on the act and producing alternatives at half the price, like this one, Nanotch iPhone 5 Lightning Cable Adapter
I wonder will Apple be pressured into supplying the adapters free of charge It appears they did after all enforce improvements of work conditions in their Chinese factory after many suicides
-
Why the change, Mike...? DO you know?
Also you mentioned earlier in the topic you won't upgrade for a while because you have too many add-ons that would need replacing...? Who so? Surely iPhone5 is compatible with apps available to the 4.....
-
Andrew, the old connector is a 'clip-in' whereas the new one looks to be some sort of a magnet system!
As regards me not going for an upgrade. Well I have quite a few devices that 'fit' the iPhone4 and 4S body shape. They will not fit the new iPhone5 case as its longer and slimmer.
Also I don't see much in the iPhone5 that is not in the iPhone4S. I don't think 4G will be available anytime soon here and I can live without it for a while longer I may change when I get a free upgrade AND am able to get new cases to fit my stuff ...... we will see.
Over the past couple of years I have been getting into the 'if its not broken don't upgrade' mode! This applies to a lot of things and to be honest, once I get over the initial urge to change for the latest and greatest, I'm fine with what I have Same goes for my 17" MBP, I intend to knock at least another 12 months out of it! And by this time most of the Mac Apps I use should be retina compatible, I hope
Bet you are sorry you asked now

I believe the real news here is the new iPod Touch.
It was in real need of an update after two years. The camera has gone from 0.3MP to 5MP. Now that's a big upgrade.
Some of us don't need an iPhone, but love iPhone apps.
-
Yes indeed and I now see ways of turning the iPod into a iPhone of sorts!
