[WIP] Iron Sight Studios-Unity3D Game Dev
-
I joined "Iron Sight Studios" a Unity Dev group this week, they formed the Dev group 3 months ago and are working on a simple puzzle/shooter about an alien called Qa'bo who is captured and has to escape a hostile alien planet by negotiating a series of rooms of increasing difficulty to reach your space ship.
This isnt a commercial game, its just to bring the team together to learn skills and get to know eachother, you can try out the game here http://ironsightstudios.com/gameversions/island3/WebPlayer/WebPlayer.htmlWe are currently working on a small virtual island with an office at the center to repersent "Iron Sight Studios", here you will be able to customise a character and walk around the office to different rooms and chat amounst others, rooms will have a different function, for example a cinema room for trailers of upcoming games, an arcade where you can link into a game currently developed, and so fort, this island is an interactive webpage, so i was asked to view an office building created in SU for this concept, shown below
I came up with the idea of making it a toon version but using more or less the same floor plan and the team agreed and this is what i came up with below
As you can see from the first image the interior is complete but in Unity this need not be the case, once you ender the door you will be loaded into a new browser which will be the interior, interior is WIP at the moment, but im going to keep this project up to date to show you how i get on with this project, here follows a few rendered images but in unity it will be rendered with a toon shader. -

But it is Rich, its being happening alot lately, i wrote a big txt the other day and lost everything, cracked me up so it did
-
Any suggestions to where i can get toon textures, not many available on the web, or even tuts on how to create good toon textures, i hope ye all give iron sight studies and I your support
-
Sorry about the renders being so low rez, me being me just wanting to get some pics up fast
-
That looks pretty cool, no idea abou the toon shaders. Shouldn't that be included in the renderer you are using.
-
There is a Toon Shader in unity but the textures are not very toon like, its the textures only i need to work on, i used shaderlight to render the images in SU, no toon shader there, but once the others import into Unity ill get a few sample screen shots and post up how it looks with the Toon shader
-
But being a toon shader, wouldn;t it need simple one color or two tone texture?
-
I did not know this, i must research it some more, cheers Marian
-
Blender has a toon shader

It was just a thought. I don't think shaders have necessarily a different kind of texture.

Regarding toon texture look you could always do something like color seperation in the graphics package of your choice. that way all fallofs get split up and look less airbrushed.
