hi! I'm new here and I'm a really dummy for sketchup πŸ˜• but I'm willing to change that! πŸ˜„ so...where can I find a tutorial on what every tool does? and I'm looking forward to modeling mechas like this:
      http://www.cosmicbreak.jp/sale/images/081229/22.jpg
      and this :

so I don't want to model any houses or anything similar 😒 and is there a tutorial for mechas?
and ive seen some plug in stuff...so do I need that or I can go with the basic?...
and last question how long could it take for modeling similar mechas?

Wow, ambitious! Still, it's good to have a challenging goal.
You should learn the basics first, of course, before trying something really complex. If you wish to model mecha, do you intend for them to be functionally detailed, or just correctly shaped? For instance, two arm components may be placed together in a way that makes their geometries overlap, but they are not actually 'jointed' in any way that would reflect their structure in a real construct.

There is a channel on YouTube for SketchUp for Dummies (yes, the book) that has many good video tutorials. I'd start there, and work through creating everyday objects to get a handle on the program.

For the future, you might look into Sketchyphysics to make a moving mech.

Pilou, I would not say that is a helpful video on how to approach different tools for a newbie. It1s rather a speeded up workflow show case that experienced users can appreciate but I can imagine it's frustrating for a newbie. πŸ˜’
