Sunny Position

Hi, is there a plugin that allows you to set the sun position by drawing a line?

if not, would be great something along these lines: you get a construction ball similar to TIG's rotate tool,
then you click on the centre of the ball and then on a point on the ball-grid. the sun position is then set along the line
with the corresponding shadows.

or is there another way that escapes me? (using the north tool and shadow setting is the way i do it.. but it is not precise - EDIT: and it takes forever!)
