Folding Knife, Dynamic Component Help
-
Hello,
I have been playing around with sketch up for only a little while now and loved what it has done for me...than I found this forum and it blew my mind what some of you have done and can do with this program. I am hooked.
I was originally using SketchUp because the wife is 3D illiterate and it helped show her what I was trying to do for house projects like the deck, shed, bathroom and kitchen.I do need some help. I did a model of a folding knife that I want to make. I was wondering if it was possible to make the blade fold out and in with in a set rotational angle, also when the blade is fully open, I want the liner lock to move into the locking position. Is a dynamic component capable of doing this?

The cam action suggests you need Sketchyphysics, especially if you want to watch the range of motion. Dynamic Components are not that dynamic in my understanding. They simply let you change parameters to static settings.

Somewhere on this site, or the 3D warehouse there is a DC of an opening door. I think it swings through an angle of about 100° between open and closed. You ought to be able to use pretty much the same parameters...maybe changing 100 to 180.

Thanks Allen I will take a look and see if it works for me.
