Sketchup cant open <1mb file without freezing.
-
Hi,
Soooooo I have been using Sketchup for years now and have never run into this problem.
I have loaded 100+ mb files with no problem before (yesterday) but all of a sudden when i try and load ANY file even <1mb it takes forever to open if at all.
When it does load a <1mb file I cant even scroll around the screen without it freezing up. It is being very weird.
The menu and icons of all my plugins respond normally too. Which makes it even weirder. I dont need to purge my file of any textures or excess geometry because it has none. It is literally 4 walls. I have tried reloading old files, new files, and downloaded files. Same problem.I have run various hardware diagnostics and virus protection scans. Still nothing has helped.
Version. 8.0.4811
(files size is 543.02KB)Anyone have any similar problems?
Thanks so much.

Have you not updated your video driver lately by any chance? Although it is suggested to update it regularly, sometimes the very latest driver is faulty and causes issues with SU. Try to disable hardware acceleration under Window > Preferences > OpenGL settings to "diagnose" the problem. SU will probably run slower than with HW acceleration on but should not freeze with just 4 walls.
If this seems to fix the problem, try to roll back to the previous driver (under the video driver configuration, there is this option in Windows).

BINGO.
Thanks a ton.
Updated my drivers (1.5 years old) and it works normal again!
Youre the best.
