How feasible would a ruby like this be? great to find textured objects this way..
too difficult or possible?select the colour and hit the ruby
find result (perhaps as an outline of sorts)

You are welcome to try my Select By Material plugin on my blog. It works just like you described. You Make current the material of interest then the plugin gives you the option of Select If or Hide If Not.

Thank you Sam, i can't believe it escaped me this long - works very well, i wish sketchup had a stronger highlight but your plugin shows clearly the selection even for faces inside groups.
