How much do you ask to be paid up front?

Just wondering how much you guys ask to be paid before starting work.

Depends.
Regular customers nothing, new customers 30% and payment on completion, bad or slow paying customers 50% before starting and payment on completion.

I work on a third or 33% draws... 1/3 up front to start Sketches, then 1/3 to start Preliminary Drawings, then 1/3 to start Construction Docs. each payment is approval of the last phase.
