Best and fastest laptop to run sketchup
-
My landscape company uses both Dynascape software, and Google sketchup for most of our design work. I am researching the best laptop to purchase for this. I need to know if we should have our laptop custom built with custom features? How much RAM does it need -- we are thinking 7 to 8 mg. And finally what kind of processor and graphics card is best? We want to be able to work efficiently with high speed processing. Thank you, Sooz

Well from experience I can tell you not to buy a Packard Bell laptop, never under any circumstances, don't even think about it.
As for components a mid to mid high range laptop should have at least an i5 8 gig ram and a decent graphics card for less than $1000
I bought a Toshiba one 6 months ago with that spec and its fine with Sketchup.

I just got this laptop a few months ago and it is a beast! - http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-G74SX-DH72-17-3-Inch-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B005PAJICG/ref=pd_cp_pc_1
It out performs the desktop system I built and I can take it anywhere. I run Lumion on it at better framerates than my desktop which is running a GTX560ti video card. It's great for rendering and anything else I throw at it. Runs cool to the touch as well.
For just Dynascape and Sketchup, this is overkill, but it is definitely spec'd to not be outdated in six months. I personally love Asus, and use a lot of their products.

I second Adam's recommendation. I've been using an earlier model (Asus G73JW) for the past year and I love it. I also run Vue on it and can render all but the heaviest models - Adam's model has even higher specs so should perform better.
Its HUGE and heavy - that may be the only downside - but as well as it performs I'll definitely buy Asus again.

Cannot go wrong with Asus.

I have a cheap E Machine manufactured by Acer that is pretty fast
I like it, works good for my needs YMMV -
Hi
I'm currently using Lenovo Y-50 gaming laptop to draw acad 13 and sketchup 15. I thought that laptop can render fast with vray. But it didn't work well.
Whenever I insert components in my projects, it becomes slower and appears 'not responding' on the top of my drawing. I don't recommand to buy lenovo.
Asus is better performance.
