Help for a new member

Hello lads, I've had a IM from a new member asking for help, my hands up, I've no solution to his problems.... but I know the people who are more qualified and will have the answers....
"after I baught Sketchup Pro8, everything was working fine. But now, I get message ( not responding )& when using a tool or switching to a new tool I have a big LAG time which doesn't allow me to do my work. This has been going on for about 2 weeks now. I called the place where I baught Sketchup at & a guy sent me a link where to speed up Sketchup. All settings I needed to set to are already there. So, thats why I would love to talk w/ you to see what you know that will help..!!
Also when I'm creating scenes on a model while I'm using "section plane" going through model, which i want to use in LayOut3. is that possible. After I made 5 scenes in section plane on model & i clicked on scene 1 it didn't show it in section view I had created. Why is that, or can i do that??"I know someone will be able to help
Thanks John -
I don't know about the first (speed) problem. It sounds more system related than the usual SU slowdown issues, particularly because it involves making tools active. Someone else may have a specific idea.
In regards to section planes, the question is a little unclear. When is the section not showing, in SU or LO? It should work. If you set scenes and the section is not showing in SU, open the lower pane in the Scene window. Where it says "Properties to save:" be sure "Active Section Planes" is checked when you update the scene. Also look at the style when that scene is selected: look in the "Styles Window/Edit/Modeling" and be sure that "Section Cuts" is checked for that style. If not, check it and update the style.
In the case of Layout, make sure you have properly saved the scenes in SU AND saved the SU file before trying to get those scenes in LO. Then inside LO, under the "SketchUp Model" window make sure you have the right scene selected (in the "View" TAB, when the reference object is highlighted).

Thanks Peter, hope it helps him out. I've no experience of Layout or section planes so I could not help.
