Hi All, not sure if this is the right place to post this (first post for SU anyway)...

This is an issue that crops up sometimes and I can't figure out why....

Basically, when zooming into a model to get closer to the action, you just get closer, but on occasions the model starts to disappear as you zoom in; as if a focal plane is moving ahead of you and making that part of the model in front of it disappear. Does this make sense...?

OK, I have attached 2 pics to illustrate my plight.

In the examples posted, the item that is affected is in a group, but this is not the issue as this happens when these are plain geometry. To make matters murkier, in the e.g. shown, if I explode the group, the problem goes away and when I then re-group, the problem is back.

      Many Thanks in advance... 😒

It is called clipping. It is a known issue. If you were to type that in to the Search Box in the upper right corner, it should return a pile of reading on the matter. As a matter of fact, look here: http://support.google.com/sketchup/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=36261

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.
