Diagonal lines in SketchUp show up as zig zags in Layout

I'm currently using Version 8 on a Mac, and when I export to Layout, the diagonal lines show up as zig zags, rather than a smooth line. This is noticeable at 100%, and really looks crappy. The same thing is preserved when exporting from Layout to a PDF.
Previously, using V6 on a Windows machine, I would have to scale up to at least 400% before you could start to see the zig zag profile in a diagonal line.
Is there a way to get rid of this? Like I said, it looks really crappy, even at 100% zoom.
I would be embarrassed to submit this type of drawing to a building department for approval. It looks too amateurish.

Hi goggin, are you in raster mode or vector mode? Generally raster will show poor resolution but changing to vector [or Hybrid] will fix it up for you.
Post how you go with it.

Indeed, vectorizing the edges (either in hybrid mode - which retains image materials if you have any - or vector mode - which only displays colours) should "fix" this issue. A raster edge is just a raster edge and any level of AA can only make it less jagged but they are still jagged.
Also make sure that though you may keep your working quality at medium, turn up your output quality to something nicer/high under document setup.

Yes, that did it. I was in raster mode (didn't even know about that).
Both Hybrid and Vector modes fixed that problem. Also fixed another "problem" that had been bothering me, and that is that certain lines wouldn't show up on the screen unless I was in 200x or higher. They would print, so they were there, but you couldn't see them on the screen.

It may not be useful depending on your output or use, but please note as well that if you output a raster and set the quality to "high" in the pdf export dialog, the quality will be twice as good as what you see inside LO. At first I did not realize this option myself.

Peter is correct. You will find vector and hybrid modes painful to work with on complex models. Raster, while looking a little rough on the screen, renders really fast, and with output quality set to high, reads fine up to 3" architectural scale. At 1/4 scale you need to have your face on the paper to perceive the jagged edge.
