Hi some time ago I needed to project an image (raster) onto a curved face. And asked the question here. I remember using the command "project" cannot work out how to do it now. Can anyone help?

      Thanks

You basically need to position the imported image relative to the curved surface, as if it were an old-style transparency slide that you were about to shine a light through and project it onto the surface.

Import the image at more or less the correct size...as an image, not a texture.
Explode it then group it. This makes it easier to manipulate into the correct position, as you can then use the Move tool to both move it and rotate it (if necessary).

Sample it by using the Paint tool + Alt.
Paint it onto the curved surface. It will be a projected texture automatically, as you sampled the image itself, rather than choosing the material from the browser.

You can always access the 'Projected' command (to turn the attribute on or off) by right clicking the surface and choosing Texture from the context menu.

Viewing Aidan Chopra's 'SketchUp: Mapping photo textures to curved surfaces' video helps to demo what Alan is advising. The video can be found here, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHsRRLCAOm8
