Now that's cool, thanks for the 'making of' images.

Mighty fine conceptual work, model and renders. Can that beast squat low enough to scurry out below the garage door? ๐Ÿ’š

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

              Incredible work, love the details.
One question tho -- with the feet being so small, and the arms so large and so far out in front of the body, would it be able to use those arms for anything but walking without the whole "beast" tipping over?

First thanks a lot for the kind words guys. I'm glad you like it ๐Ÿ˜„

Mitcorb - I hope so... ๐Ÿ˜„. I did the garage and robot with real measures values as reference. This is my own garage, and I went there to take photos and confirm measures a lot of times, that's why I had to make the garage bigger or the robot wouldn't fit in there (you can see that in the 2nd image from the bottom, I lost to much time on that manipulation making details that were a few pixels in size sometimes, so most probably no one would notice, so it wasn't really necessary but I had fun with it so it doesn't matter now). But the garage door is in a lower point than the top of the garage so the robot would have to get down a bit, but he's fully articulated so it should be possible (hey, in my head he can do it ๐Ÿ˜‰ ).

hellnbak - In this version he would have to found a balance point. If you see the side view (notice the smaller side view, and not the one with the gorilla scheme), his legs are rotate more to the front so I imagine that if he would do something like dig with one hand he would have to use the other hand for support and the leg from the side the digging hand would have to be more pushed to the front (or something like it) for digging with the 2 hands he would just get down on ground and spread the legs to front and sides to give him support while digging).
But to be honest, when I idealized this robot he had a pair of extra (small) legs in front that would recoil while not in use and come out when needed, but it "braked" the design and the look I was after a bit, so yeah this was one of those moments when style came first that function ๐Ÿ˜›

One again thanks for the comments and I'll try to get more images of the robot doing other things (that could be fun)

                  David

I didn't realize that this was a "earthworking" type robot, until I read your reply to my post. I just assumed that those massive arms were meant for more sinister things. That's what I get for assuming ๐Ÿ˜„

                    Your work is amazing ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘

Slaps according to my friends... (no one sees these helping in stuff like digging or construction, don't know why... ๐Ÿ˜„)

Anyway I've found in my cellphone pictures, while looking for the new year party photos (by the way Happy new Year for you guys ๐Ÿ˜›), a picture when we took the photos for this project. You can see the "Photographer" (my friend Pedro Pereira) and the "Model" (my younger brother) discussing the Photos: "ohhh, shiny bottons..." and "Don't touch that!". Please also notice the extremely professional camera support made by IKEA...

Incredible! good use of photoshop with CGI, and the model itself is very lifelike! I had trouble at first working out which bits were real and which were CGI, until I saw the handy images below ๐Ÿ˜„

Great idea and superb execution! ๐Ÿ‘ I agree wholeheartedly with every positive comment posted above (to save me some time repeating them ๐Ÿ’š).

There's only one thing that I would add: the hydraulic cylinders need hoses! I forgive you for not adding them, since I know how hard it is to model nice hoses/wires/etc., but if you want to take the realism ("epicness"? ๐Ÿ˜†) to the next level, that's my suggestion.

                            Thanks for sharing!

You might have noticed... I'm a bit of a ferpectionist.
