      Hi guys,
I have been using Design 2020 for my kitchen design like 2 years now, and was looking for a low cost substitute.
Just recently I discovered SketchUp. Since then I have been amazed by this free program as more and more functions are revealed to me.

I have one complaint though, the zoom rate becomes slower the closer you are to an object. Zoom also slowed when you are not pointing to any object. Can I adjust to constant zoom rate? Sometime when I orbit into an object, accidentally, its slow to zoom out or pan out of it.

Other than that, may I know for Pro version is it one time fee (entitled to future versions?) or renewable? I cannot find this in Google's FAQ for SketchUp.

      Thank you.

      Rany

The Zoom tool in SU is contextual and is designed this way (you describe). I actually find it very good compared to constant zooming in other apps but I believe it is a matter of getting used to and may be a pain first when you come from another application.

        No, it cannot be changed.

As for the SU Pro license: it is a one time fee and is for life-time but only for the particular main version. When a new version comes out, you are not forced to upgrade and can use the older version forever but if you decide to upgrade, there is an upgrade fee some $95 I believe. Your older version remains functional, too (I have SU 6, 7 and now 8 installed on my computer).

All incremental (smaller) versions within a main version are free. Like we have the second maintenance version for SU 8 already - some even brought new functions.

Thank you Mr Gai for clearing my doubt. I will adjust myself to it.
