      Hello!

Sketchup starts lagging when i load up too many high poly objects (3d trees) into my model.
I want to use 2D Trees as placeholder (dummy) and quickly change to the 3d trees and back again.

      How do you do that?

      Thank you!

You can also do it directly in the component browser. (Maybe not as comprehensive as Ghost Comp, but it helps you acquaint yourself with the program).
Load both versions of the tree...2D and 3D...into the model, so that they will both appear in the list of In Model components. You can then delete the 3D version, if you wish...just don't purge it.
Assuming that you then construct the model using the lightweight 2D version and then want to replace all instances with the 3D version:-
Right-click the 2D version in the component browser and choose Select Instances from the context menu.
Then right-click the 3D version and choose Replace Selected. Done!
